De esmeraldas, legiones y nómadas: últimos resultados del Sikait Project

Resumen
El Sikait Project es un proyecto arqueológico centrado en el análisis de la extracción y comercialización de las esmeraldas en la Antigüedad. Desde el año 2018 ha llevado a cabo cinco campañas de intervenciones arqueológicas en el parque nacional de Wadi el-Gemal (desierto Arábigo de Egipto), una región conocida en época antigua como “Smaragdos”, por ser la única zona dentro del Imperio Romano de donde se podía obtener esta piedra preciosa. El presente artículo presenta los resultados del proyecto durante las campañas de 2020 a 2023, focalizando en los sondeos arqueológicos en Sikait y la documentación de las minas de esmeraldas.Descargas
