Abstract
Between the decades 1960 and 1980, during the Cold War, it is remarkable the relevance of a working class in different parts of the Western world, which standed outside the tutelage of leftist parties and union leaders, in search of better life conditions. The political context coincides with a prolific “independent” cinema centered around working class thematic. It is striking, however, as the films portray tells us little about the historical context in which they are immersed. This article, through the analysis of four iconic films of the time, tries to investigate the possible causes to explain this apparent contradiction.Downloads
