Abstract

In the present editorial, in the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliotecológicas (INIBI-FFyL-UBA), the endogamic or inbred behaviors are studied in Library Science and Information Science. Among several aspects that build up inbreeding in this field, the following are mentioned: practical endogamy, endogamy of influence or dependence on bibliographic sources, endogamy of lack of controversy, and systemic endogamy. The editorial concludes with several case studies and a call to abandon endogenous professional attitudes as a strategy for the survival of the discipline.
