Evaluation of scientific journals in Social Sciences and Humanities
Abstract
The article analyzes the role of the evaluation of scientific journals in the process of the evaluation of the research performed by individuals and institutions. Special attention is paid to social sciences and humanities journals. Firstly, the difficulties in the application of bibliometric methods based on citation analysis with data obtained from Thompson Scientific (ex ISI) are studied. Secondly, we describe several projects for the creation of alternative citation indexes and the main collection of journals developed from the application of other evaluation methods such as peer evaluation, editorial quality analysis or journals’ diffusion.Downloads
