Environmental challenges in the Global South directly affect the most vulnerable communities, which often have limited resources to confront climate change and other environmental issues. The resilience of these populations is crucial for adaptation and sustainability; in this context, the development of effective strategies can mitigate impacts, promote social justice, and reduce inequalities.
The study of global issues is essential to understanding the interconnected challenges affecting the planet, as solutions developed in the Global South can serve as models for other regions. This highlights the importance of sustainable and inclusive development that respects cultural diversity and local ecosystems, while also contributing to global goals for environmental preservation and social equity.
We invite researchers, scholars, professionals, and interested individuals to submit articles that explore environmental impacts in the Global South, resilience strategies, and solutions to promote sustainability within an interconnected global context. This field of study seeks to develop innovative solutions, promote the responsible use of natural resources, and foster social justice, thereby contributing to the reduction of inequalities. The dossier explores the environmental impacts of the region, analyzing resilience strategies and pathways toward sustainability for local communities.
We also aim to address key topics essential for facing global environmental challenges in a timely and effective manner, including but not limited to:
- Climate change and its impacts on the Global South.
- Challenges in the sustainable use of natural resources.
- Adaptation and mitigation policies in local contexts.
- Environmental justice, social inequalities, and gender.
- Extreme natural events and mitigation strategies.
- Community resilience and sustainable development initiatives.
- Challenges and opportunities in environmental legislation within the Global South.
- Challenges and Asymmetries: Land Grabbing, Resource Extraction, and Waste Pollution
We hope your contributions will deepen the debate on critical environmental issues in the Global South and promote sustainable and just solutions for all.
