Abstract

Our aim is to present an in-depth analysis of V.Max. 9.11.ext.4, in order to explain its discourse strategies, which reformulate the same idea over and over, namely, Sejanus’ conspiracy as a universal annihilation attempt. Starting from there and from the double accusation against Sejanus of having broken his amicitia with Tiberius, we attempt to recreate the nature of that relationship in FDM, which, in turn, will allow us to evaluate how such trespass worsens the conspiracy as a whole.
