AbstractMythical names can be found in large numbers within Latin poetry, but the myths themselves are not told at all. This article intends to show how these names substitute the myths themselves, while respectively referring to the stage practices of amphitheatres in Rome. In other terms: these practices enable myth to enter poetry again purely as mythical name. Such a complex issue as well as its medial background need a theoretical reflection.
