Abstract

The article proposes to analyze the composition of Ir David (Amsterdam, 1638), a glossary of Greek and Latin words existing in rabbinical literature. Its author, David Cohen de Lara mentions in the prologue the sources used but omits the one of Thesaurus Linguae Graecae of H. Stephanus, whose presence is indisputable, as shown by some examples that are transcribed in the work. The mention of Flavius Josephus is significant since it allows to conjecture the method of work of the author.
