El Qhapaqñan en el sector medio de la Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show new information about the Inca Road System. It is being obtained from actual investigations that are carried on at the Middle Sector of Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy Province, Argentina. The main objective is to study the Inca impact on local populations of this area as well as the characteristics its incorporation produced. We will analyze the Inca road characteristics in terms of the creation of a new spatiality, the Inca. In this case, we will study the Humahuaca-ramal, emphasizing the Meridional Section of the Qhapaqñan. This goes from Tilcara to Angosto de Yacoraite, occupying 25 kilometers long approximately. We aggregate new evidence on bifurcations that connect the main Quebrada to Valles Orientales, which represents an extension of 60 kilometers in total. We believe it is necessary to emphasize this theme due to the absence of information about the trajectory at Quebrada de Humahuaca, and as a clue element to compare with the information available about the Inca Road through the Puna.Downloads
