Aportes a la historia ocupacional de Pueblo Viejo de Tucute, Puna de Jujuy
Abstract
This article provides information on the history of Pueblo Viejo de Tucute, a large pre-hispanic settlement located in the mountains southwest of Casabindo, in the Cochinoca Department, Puna de Jujuy. Twenty-seven radiocarbon dates for different materials and from several loci, contributed to the interpretation of several factual elements with chronological value recognized in the old settlement. Theyallow us to develop an occupation sequence. This sequence ranges from the moment when a group of migrants with roots in the altiplano settled in the mountain ranges, up to the abandonment of the settlement in pre-Hispanic times. Post-Hispanic evidence isscarce. The data show an occupation from the beginning of the second millennium of the current era until the first half of the 15th century.Downloads
