Abstract

This essay analyses the drama Os sete gatinhos, by Nelson Rodrigues, in which Seu Noronha is a discredited patriarch and Bibelô is an astute gigolo who destabilizes Noronha’s family order. The play illustrates the suburban condemnation created by Nelson Rodrigues in contrast to Dias Gomes, Guarnieri and Suassuna’s popular heroes’ positive solution.
