“Trenches in the Darkness”: poelitics from the East-Northeast region of the 21st Century Spanish Peninsula

  • Jaime Oliveros García

Abstract

This article will study the notion of poelitics and apply it to poems and songs from the East-Northeastern regions of the Spanish Peninsula during the 21st Century, both in Valencian and in Spanish. to suggest that these share some keys with which the audience and/or reader may grasp what will be considered here as poelitics, even when there is not a clear definition of it. In short, poelitics as a theoretic notion allows the study of contemporary cultural productions that have not received the required critical attention. In this article, therefore, a proposal of what poelitics could be will be done through synthesizing multiple definitions that have been given of it. Afterwards, the article will apply such synthesis to cultural productions from the proposed chronotope in order to situate the “definition” within a socio-political context in which poelitics appear, which will help to clarify the notion and suggest a practical application.
