Abstract

The spatial and temporal diversity of the native settlement and subsistence systems in the upper and medium Limay river basin, northwestern Patagonoa, is examined through written sources from the 17th and 19th centuries. Whenever possible, the connection between each system and the corresponding ethnic group (identified by its chieftain) is stated, and the nomenclature employed in the sources is mentioned and discussed.
