Sound in Structure. Anthropology of Sound in the Former Clandestine Detention, Torture and Extermination Center “Club Atlético”

Abstract

The theoretical contributions of Anthropology of Sound and the Theory of Practice enhance the value of sound for social research and how subjects conduct appropriations and negotiations in the interaction with the structures of which they are part. This article is a new way of approaching space and testimony on the events of the last military dictatorship in Argentina. Much of the proposal of this work is that sounds played a key role in resistance practices developed under illegal detention. Sounds have played an extremely important role in the daily life and functioning of CCDTyE as well as in the experiences of the detainees and their relationship with the oppressors and the periphery of the Centres. That is why the purpose of this article is to identify the place given to sound in the memory of the experience of those arrested and detained in the former CCDTyE “Club Atlético.
