New patterns of transport and trade in the globalized world have changed logistical requirements and transportation actors

Abstract

Logistics chains and door-to-door services have become more sophisticated so that in order to be able to provide an efficient service has been necessary to develop flexible exchange nodes modal, strategically located, with high levels of quality of service and access to the main routes of high capacity of the environment. These exchange nodes favor the deployment of intermodal chains in which each transport mode is used in its most efficient stretch. In this article is intended to conceptually develop the relationship between the transport and logistics, as well as to describe and list the new typologies of logistics platforms.
