Abstract

Urban mobility is crucial for the development process of Salvador, the capital of the State of Bahia, Brazil. The modal system in Salvador has as its main vectors the road and the elevated railway, considered complementary means of mass transport and with different functions. The elevated railway operates structuring routes Line 1 (which connects Lapa Station to Pirajá Station) and Line 2 (which connects Acesso Norte Station to Aeroporto Station). The road system serves the process of loading and outflow of the main structuring routes (urban transit routes). Given that the beginning of operations of Salvador Elevated Train Line 2 is recent (2016), the article shows the evaluation of the service offered in this Line from the perspective of the user. Therefore, research was performed with users from March to September 2019 and had as an objective to investigate whether there was an improvement regarding mobility, from the relationship among origin/destination, journey time, amount of boarding and money spent. The results show that over half of the passengers is relatively satisfied with the service.
