Abstract

The traditional theatrical standpoints rarely consider the presence of subjectivity as an important topic to study in order to identify the possible meanings of a play. However, from our perspective, this is a crucial aspect to evaluate in a text. Consequently, in this article we will try to analyze how the stage directions of the spanish translation of The Crucible from Arthur Miller built a strong image of responsible of the enunciation. In order to do that, we will use the Enfoque dialógico de la argumentación y la polifonía enunciativa (García Negroni y Libenson, 2009; García Negroni, Libenson y Montero, 2013) as a framework. We will prove that the text use the strong presence of a narrator to generate distance in the reader by showing the fictional nature of the dramatic action.
