Zama is the journal of the Hispano-American Literature Institute (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, University of Buenos Aires). It is a double-blind peer-reviewed academic publication that has been published since 2008. Its frequency is annual (December). It publishes original and unpublished works, as well as translations, bibliographic reviews, conversations, poetics and notes referring to Latin American literature.

Its objective is to offer a space for discussion and exchange for literary studies, with the intention of strengthening academic debate and communicate the most recent critical production in the discipline. Contributions of the following type will be accepted: research articles, notes and reviews.

Originality requirement

The submitted articles and notes must be unpublished, may not be simultaneously in the evaluation process in another publication, and must have been prepared during the year of submission.

Copyright notice

Authors who publish in this journal accept the following conditions:

- The authors or translators retain the copyright and assign to the journal the right of first publication, with the work registered under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International, which allows third parties to use what published as long as they mention the authorship of the work and the first publication in this journal.
- Authors may enter into other independent and additional contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the article published in Zama (eg, include it in an institutional repository or publish it in a book) as long as they clearly indicate that the work was first published in this journal.

Peer review process

The articles and notes will be evaluated by external reviewers selected by the Editorial Committee following the guidelines of the double-blind arbitration system, which keeps the identity of the author and the reviewers confidential during the evaluation process, to guarantee the quality of the contents. The Editorial Committee makes a first review of the originals to ensure proper compliance with the journal's publishing standards and the quality of the content. After this stage, the articles and notes are sent to external referees to assess whether they make an original contribution to the thematic areas of the publication. The evaluators will have a time stipulated by the Editorial Committee of 30 (thirty) days to carry out the evaluation of the article. Their opinion must be based on criteria of relevance and academic originality established by the journal. If the evaluations do not match and have discrepancies, the Editorial Committee will appoint a new evaluator who will make the final decision. The reviewers, according to their evaluation, must select a decision among those defined by the evaluation guide of the journal:

- Approve without modifications: The submission meets the requirements and meets the requirements of the journal (originality, timeliness, being correctly written, being the result of research, containing a clear methodological development and a consistent analysis of the data, discussion with updated bibliography ). If there is a coincidence between the opinions, the Writing Assistant will inform the decision through an email and send the opinions. The article then goes to the stage of proofreading and editing.

- Approve with modifications: The article is within the parameters established by the journal but the evaluators require that either minor modifications of style and orthotypographical corrections be made, or major modifications of content, structure, writing and incorporation of bibliography. The Writing Assistant will send the opinions with the suggestions of the reviewers and the author will have a period of 30 (thirty) days to make the suggested modifications. Once the modified article is uploaded back to the system, the Editorial Committee will review it and decide to publish or reject the article.

- Reject: The evaluator considers that the article has important shortcomings and does not meet the minimum requirements to be published in the journal according to its rules. If the reviewers' evaluation coincides in not accepting the publication of the article, the Writing Assistant will inform the decision through an email and send the opinions.

Open access and APC policies

Zama maintains his commitment to the policies of Open Access to scientific information, considering that both scientific publications and research financed with public funds should circulate on the Internet freely, freely and without restrictions. This journal is based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps a greater global exchange of knowledge, adhering to those established in the BOAI (2002). The publication of articles in this magazine is free. Access by readers to the content of this magazine is free of charge and is available on this site in its entirety and without restriction.

Zama magazine does not charge fees of any kind for sending or publishing its articles.

Digital Preservation Policy

Zama is part of the institutional repository Filo:Digital of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires, which digitally archives and guarantees the preservation of scientific material. It is also conserved in the institutional repository of the University of Buenos Aires (Library and Information System of the University of Buenos Aires, Sisbi ).

Ethics code

Zama adheres to the Code of Conduct and Good Practices established by the Committee of publication Ethics ( COPE ). In compliance with this code, the journal undertakes to avoid the existence of any conflict of interest between authors, reviewers and editors. A conflict of interest is understood to be the divergence between the scientific/academic work and the personal interests of any of the actors involved in the editorial process (authors, editors, external evaluators). All submitted text will be evaluated for its intellectual content. Zama adheres to the Declaration on Research Assessment ( DORA ) on the evaluation of research.
