First, it addresses the meaning of the term “second anthropologies”; it then differentiates them from anthropologies in the South and anthropologies of the South. Next, the article discusses certain current transformations of human civilization in general and of the university system specifically, being both the contexts where anthropological knowledge is generated. Finally, the article addresses a critical revision of significant achievements of twentieth century Latin American social and human sciences.
