Abstract

Territorial approaches constitute a common denominator in recent proposals of rural development studies. An unusual interest by particularisms associated to territory, that extends beyond it‘s economic, ecological and geographic characteristics is noticed. At the same time incorporation of social and cultural aspects is increasing in order to grant singularity to a certain space. This paper displays a preliminary critical analysis of “territorial identities” as one of the main categories of this approach. It´s also discuss the reach of this concept in relation to the actions of the main agencies of development that operates in the Chané community of Campo Durán, due to the promotion of its handycrafts production. Finally it´s discuss the contribution of this categories in the construction of new paradigms in the rural development studies.
