Abstract

The present paper exposes the relevance of the new approaches that make an effort to understand from an anthropological perspective powerful institutions of the contemporary world such as science and technology, through the case of the anthropological research on the nuclear technology. Here, it is proposed to contrast studies on this thematic carried out in developed countries and in Argentina, given into account of the importance of analyzing the scientific activity in relation to its local context. Thus, it is shown that the knowledge conformation process during the laboratory daily life is far away from being the same one in the diverse social, economic and political contexts in which it is framed. In this sense, the analysis of local science is emphasized as a differential challenge of the studies of central countries, questioning the assumption of science like a universal activity and exploring the differences between studies on the “peripheral science” versus the “central countries science”.
