Abstract

In this article, we propose to explore the production of meanings around work in the metallurgical sector in Capital Federal, in the social, political and economical context of Argentina at the end of 1990s. From the concept of structure of feelings proposed by Raymond Williams, that theoretically articules the cultural processes with hegemony processes, we try to show that this production is made in the setting of social and historical relationships crossed by mechanisms of inequality. In order with interviwes that we made between 1996 and 1998, we identify the breal of a structure of feelings around work, organized on perception of social promotion and the emergency of another, organized on perception of subsistence and precarization. In the narrations, it is noticed the break from experiences that bring workers to ‘unemployment’, from 1995 to now on.
