Abstract

Social anthropology allows us to have a good look at the different residential neighborhoods that took place in the metropolitan region of Buenos Aires. Along this paper we focus on two residential areas included in the modern urban planning. On the one hand, we take a look at public housing built in the central area of the historical modern city. On the other hand, we analyzed the gates communities built in periferical areas of the recent modern city. In both case, we concentrate on urban images elaborated by their residents. We elaborate some statements about the phenomena under discussion based on a fieldwork experience.
