Abstract

This paper reflects on the search, treatment and interpretation of a specific type of documentary source: the baptism certificates issued by priests and missionaries during the last stage of the Southern Frontier of the Pampas and North Patagonia. Our aim is to identify and describe, on one hand, the difficulties in finding these documents and other accessory information, and, on the other hand, to point out the strategies needed to adequately contextualize this information.
