Returns of María Rosa Lida

Abstract

This article proposes to reflect on the different ways of approaching the undeniable current relevance of María Rosa Lida's position, especially based on a series of debates and concepts that would define her special critical strategies. Among those strategies, the article insists on one of the traits (together with her gift for controversy, already discussed in a previous article [Catelli, 2011]) that is considered typical of Lida, both from a personal point of view and from the angle of her special situation, as an American, within European and especially Spanish philology. This trait is the recourse to various modalities of dialogue, with Américo Castro among others, marked by an indefatigable desire for correction, both in detail and in a wider historical range.
