Abstract

The contribution discusses the impact of Frida Weber de Kurlat’s work in the field of Spanish classical theatre in general, and specifically in Lope de Vega. It examines and systematizes the various critical horizons and epistemic constellations that were prevalent in the field of philology at the time in order to recover the originality of the work undertaken by the Argentinean philologist to support her research. In his overview, the author also discusses how his own approaches to Spanish classical theatre have intersected with Weber de Kurlat’s critical production and illuminates the foundational role of the Argentine philologist in the renewal of the approaches to Lope de Vega’s dramatic corpus.
