Abstract

The present essay proposes to observe the literary use of cocoliche – or, better said, of the cultured reconstruction of that language – emphasizing chronologically distant works. Los amores de Giacumina and Marianina, anonymous brochures published in the newspaper El Liberal of Buenos Aires, January and June of 1886, represent the first examples of this production, Roberto Raschella’s novels – Diálogos de los patios rojos (1994), Si hubiéramos vivido aquí (1998), La follia utopistica (2015) – propose a contemporary reformulation of this code. Their comparison makes it possible to appreciate the strong change of intentionality of the cocolichesque works, which can be profitably read by referring to the concept of heterogeneous literature proposed, in another context, by Antonio Cornejo Polar.
