Abstract

This article aims to present the multiple points of view contained in the same Participatory Action Research carried out by the Research Group on Ethnomusicology Dona Ivone Lara, created within the scope of the doctoral research of the PPGM-UNIRIO student Pedro Mendonça. The group performs ethnographic work around and along with the Sarau Divergente, a street event which a sarau in Cinelândia, downtown Río de Janeiro, has been holding since 5 years ago, and which is managed primarily by professionals of the Carioca funk genre, but not limited to this musical genre. It is a predominantly black space that is based on the struggles against the Genocide of the Black People and the ancestral Afro-Brazilian poetics-epistemology-spirituality. This article is called meta-ethnography because it is an ethnography/self-ethnography carried out collectively since January 2016, setting forth its reports on the challenges and possibilities of this type of methodology from a diversity of points of view.
