Las mujeres guaraníes de Salta en la esfera doméstica y pública: Una aproximación antropológica
Abstract
This article is a preliminary study on the role of Guarani women of the province of Salta in the domestic and public sphere. The study presents a review of the theoretical debates on gender and the role of women in the economy and their participation in politics. Guarani women play an important role in the household economy given that they sell the agricultural produce and engage in cross border trade. In spite of their autonomy and their ability to trade, and interact outside of their communities, within their villages they do not have decision-making power and access to political office. However, within the domestic sphere women make decisions of importance and their activities in the public space outside of the community generates new strategies for change and autonomy.Downloads
