Aging, Motor Disability and Exclusion
A View from the Province of Copiapó
Abstract
This article seeks to understand how perceptions of social exclusion are shaped in older people with motor disabilities living in the province of Copiapó in the Atacama region of Chile. Based on data collected through focused ethnography, the biopsychosocial perspective and the model of social determinants in health is used to access subjectivities that are anchored to the specificities of the territory of study. The results obtained reveal the importance of the barriers and facilitators present in the environment, personal factors and social determinants in health in the perceptions of social exclusion and, therefore, of inclusion of the individuals interviewed.Downloads
