Police violence and qualitative research (Reflections from Caracas urban field)
Abstract
This article tries to summarize some epistemological and methodological considerations that we have clarified after researching phenomena associated with structural and armed violence in social exclusion and precariousness contexts. We have approached these phenomena from a constructivist paradigm, using various methodologies that are located within the qualitative methodological approach; therefore, our appreciations are based on these positions and specifically oriented to the development of knowledge on police violence in Caracas, Venezuela. In this way, we contextualize the use of qualitative concepts such as reflexivity, transparency and "giving voice" to others, amongst research on this topic.Downloads
