Políticas educativas bilingües interculturais no Equador

Resumo

Quais são as oportunidades e os desafios na recuperação das línguas indígenas dentro das instituições estatais? Este artigo analisa o caso da educação bilíngüe intercultural no Equador. O sistema escolar é notavelmente uma iniciativa de âmbito nacional liderada por e para os povos indígenas e nacionalidades. Com base em. dois anos de pesquisa etnográfica nos escritórios da liderança nacional do sistema escolar en as escolas, descrevo três desafios que surgiram para os diretores e que estão ligados aos escritórios e às expectativas do Estado nacional. Em última análise, kichwa é mais destacado do que nunca, mesmo quando. kichwa muda um pouco. através do planejamento e apoio nacional. O caso mostra a importância de compreender os dois obstáculos aos esforços de revitalização da linguagem.

Nicholas Limerick, Teachers College, Columbia University, Nueva York
Nicholas Limerick es profesor asociado de Antropología y Educación en el Teachers College de la Universidad de Columbia. Su investigación, de carácter etnográfico, se ha centrado en la política de la educación bilingüe intercultural en Ecuador. Está trabajando en dos proyectos de escritura. Uno de ellos es un libro que considera cómo los directores del sistema nacional de escuelas interculturales bilingües de Ecuador han promovido y enseñado el kichwa –llamado quechua fuera de Ecuador– desde instituciones estatales que han marginado históricamente a la familia lingüística y a sus hablantes. En los últimos años también ha coescrito, con el director de una escuela en Quito, un libro de texto para enseñar el kichwa a los estudiantes que ya no hablan la lengua de forma dominante.
