Abstract

In the 1960s, mythical thought was reclaimed as a way of accessing knowledge. It was in those years that the playwright Sergio De Cecco, in his play El reñidero (1964), reframed a classical myth in the neighborhood of Palermo at the beginning of the 20th century. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to carry out a comparative study between the dramatic text by De Cecco and the Greek tragedy Choephoroi by Aeschylus from mythical perspectives. The analysis will focus on the reworking of various characteristics of Greek tragedy postulated by Aristotle in Poetics. Besides, the use of orality in both theatre plays will be investigated through selected passages of Rethoric.
