Abstract

Training spaces are key elements in understanding artistic action. However, theatre research has tended to focus on productions and their artists, with less attention paid to workshops, schools and institutions. The aim of this article is to analyze four training spaces in the city of San Miguel de Tucumán, each with a different aesthetic. In each case, the article examines the teachers who coordinate these spaces, the aesthetics and techniques used, as well as the ethical or ideological criteria linked to the proposals. In the second part of the article, the aesthetic interventions of each workshop are evaluated in terms of their links with Buenos Aires theatre. The work shows that the aesthetics of Buenos Aires are not imposed from within, as is usually assumed, but that there are teachers who act as key links and construct their own positions at the local level, importing content, techniques and aesthetics. The work was carried out through interviews with teachers and former students, as part of a wider doctoral and post-doctoral project investigating the theatre of Tucumán and its relations with Buenos Aires.
