Abstract

The universe of independent theater in La Plata city, capital of Buenos Aires province, shows particular characteristics that could only be understood taking in mind its connections with Buenos Aires city and with the rest of the world. This article provides a brief historical overview of the main acting methodologies that entered or were developed in our country throughout the 20th Century, paying attention to the place each methodology gives to the actor or actress corporeality, in order to lay the contextual groundwork that allows us to understand the map of discourses and representations of the body that characterizes the circuit of La Plata independent theater today.
