Abstract

This article provides an analysis of Stanislavski‟s “system”, focusing on the significance of language as a main part of it. Stanislavski placed a special emphasis on phonetic and expressive aspects in the difficult creative process of giving birth to a character. The importance of language as a conscious and unconscious support for performance is a prevailing idea in the theoretical foundations of his method. This study is an attempt to gather his most significant ideas on language and to explain their relevance for the system as a whole, thus opening a new window towards the role of Linguistics in the configuration of Stanislavski‟s system, within the wide corpus of research already done on Stanislavski‟s works.
