Abstract

This article aims to outline guidelines for possible ways of incorporating social anthropology in the training of health science professionals based on the changes that are taking place in university curricula. To this end, it begins with a conceptual approach to the problem of innovation and then continues with a historization of how sociocultural perspectives were incorporated in the health field in Latin America. Thus, it offers a historical perspective and a theoretical analysis of the relationship between anthropology and health issues. On the other hand, the article retrieves research trajectory and ongoing pedagogical projects of which the authors are part, as social anthropologists who teach in undergraduate and graduate courses related to health. For this reason, the article is based on an autoethnographic approach that also draws on statistical data provided by situated studies.
