Border areas and identity. Tensions and cultural strategies in the city of Concordia

Abstract

Since the ‘90s began to accrue social studies, the themes of “frontier” and / or “identity”. However, the rigidity of these terms hides much of the complexity that exists in the actual border areas and strategies of identity construction of everyday life. From a socio-anthropological approach will join us here at mid anthropological discussions of the previous decade of ethnographic research more complex since border areas as important elements in identity processes. Explain the plot of current heterogeneous and ambiguous relationships in the construction of “identity” in the City of Concordia (Argentina), from its policies and everyday cultural practices. For this, we describe the origins of the city in relation to cultural and current continuities, ruptures, relieving the specificity of political discourse and cultural offerings in the forms of “identity” concordiense imagine.
