Abstract

This article deals with the different models of dance historiography. Currently, the first teleological approaches have become outdated and the history of dance has become more complex. In the 1990s, a double semantic displacement occurred. On the one hand, this displacement aimed to renew the traditional methodology of dance history; on the other hand, it sought to redefine the discipline through its integration into cultural studies. This article attempts to demonstrate that the model of cultural history opens a way to establish a dialogue between opposed approaches in dance history.
