Multi-temporality of landscape at Mesada del Agua Salada archaeological area (Catamarca, Argentina)

Abstract

 We present the excavations on Mesada de Agua Salada archaeological area (Yocavil Valley, Northwestern Argentine). Ceramic, lithic and faunistic remains and their stratigraphic context as well as temporality and functionality are described. The artefactual assemblages show affinities shared with ways of doing along Yocavil Valley. Radiocarbon datings show 1394±39 BP and 642±42 BP occupations which go along with pottery and stratigraphics analysis. The information presented allows to state that Mesada de Agua Salada is a significant place in the dwelling of past populations, whose materiality objectifies the multi-temporality of this landscape.
