Resumen

Este artículo investiga la teología espiritual de las fuentes de la temprana Cristiandad que influenciaron a Pedro de Damasco, escritor espiritual bizantino del s. XII. Como agregado, se le da especial atención al estado del monasticismo del siglo XII, así como a la literatura contemporánea de esos entonces para situar a Pedro en su contexto histórico, social, religioso y literario. Una pequeña explicación de intertextualidad es también provista con sugerencias acerca de cómo esta técnica literaria podría ayudar favorablemente a los estudiosos actuales para acercarse a las obras de Pedro.
